New Outrage Overload Episodes!
First up is Robert J. Thompson, director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture, who joins the Outrage Overload program to take us on a fascinating journey through the history of outrage media—from the early seeds of sensationalism to the clickbait algorithms of the digital age.
Then we are joined by Hajar Yazdiha, an assistant professor of sociology at the University of Southern California, to discuss how the Civil Rights Movement is often relegated to simplified narratives and sanitized snapshots. Yazdiha helps us to delve deeper, exposing the intentional distortions and selective amnesia surrounding this pivotal historical era.
